🏃 🏃 Regaining my fitness Week 8 update
Greetings everyone! Hope you're all doing mighty. All is great this end. So what's this post all about? Most of you guys know already, but for the benefit of new readers, this is my weekly update on how my new fitness regime is going. It started off with this post back in December: https://scorum.com/en-us/scorum/@ablaze/don-t-forget-to-feed-the-minnows-and-my-5-resolutions-for-2019 Each week since I have post a weekly update to capture what exercise and training I managed to squeeze into the previous week. This both keeps me accountable and may even encourage others to give something similar. Just remember Rome wasn't built in a day. Baby steps is what it's all about at the start. Then slowly you'll build up some momentum and eventually it is just part of your morning ritual or perhaps for others an afternoon or evening ritual. It works best for me in the morning and it gives me a nice boost to start my day. TOUGH WEEK Week eight was possibly the toughest yet. To be honest, it would have been easy to park the exercise regime for most of the week. I had quite a bit on this week. I had the night on the town for Off The Ball Live with Niall Quinn, Graham Souness, Kevin Kilbane and Brian Kerr, which you can read all about here: https://scorum.com/en-us/football/@ablaze/i-met-niall-quinn-graham-souness-brian-kerr-and-kevin-kilbane-last-night I also had 2 nights away at Druids Glen Resort in County Wicklow with my wife and kids. So this week could quite easily have been just 2 or 3 days exercise. What I really wanted to avoid was parking the exercise for a few days in a row and potentially breaking the habit which I formed and honed over 7 dedicated weeks. So, I instead adapted to the week ahead and planned to make use of the hotel pool to bolster my training for the week and I could still do most of my exercises like situps, pushups and jumping jacks in the hotel room. So, all was not lost. I'm actually delighted with the week in the end, considering what I had on. Two months on and going strong. Here is this week's breakdown: WEEK 8 EXERCISE BREAKDOWN Day 48120 x pushups 200 x sit ups 270 x jumping jacks100 x No weight arm exercise 150 x shadow box Day 49 Rest Day 5060 x pushups90 x Dumbell curls (9Kg)90 x Dumbell side lifts (9Kg)200 x sit ups 200 x jumping jacks100 x No weight arm exercise 150 x shadow box1 x 20 minute swim Day 51210 x pushups 120 x sit ups200 x jumping jacks200 x No weight arm exercise 150 x shadow box1 x 20 minute swim Day 52130 x pushups200 x sit ups 200 x jumping jacks100 x No weight arm exercise 150 x shadow box1 x 20 minute swim Day 5335 x pushups 1 x golf (7-8km walk) Day 54285 x pushups90 x Dumbell curls (9Kg)90 x Dumbell side lifts (9Kg)200 x sit ups 200 x jumping jacks100 x No weight arm exercise 150 x shadow box WILD HORSES That rest day above was obviously the day after Off the Ball live. Wild horses couldn't drag me to do any training that day. It was hard enough just getting up for work 😆 It was really nice squeezing in a few swims this week too. It's a really great way to exercise and is so easy on the limbs and joints too. That's one thing I do miss about my old gym membership. The days are starting to get warmer though, so I might look into having a dip in the sea soon. I often do it down in Galway when I'm home and it's a great tonic. You'd feel invigorated after it, especially when it's really cold. Nope!! That's not me, but I have jumped off this famous diving board in Galway a few times in my day! Well, that's it for this week folks. Thanks a million for reading as always. Peace Out.
